Osteoporosis / Low Bone Mass
What is Osteoporosis?
Osteoporosis occurs when the bones in the body begin to deteriorate and become brittle. Our bones are in a constant state of deterioration and regeneration. When we’re young and healthy, our body replaces the bone tissue much more quickly than it deteriorates. Over time, our bodies slow the process of regeneration and bone mass can be lost. While there are some contributing factors we can’t control, such as age and genetic makeup, there are several things we can do to not only slow the process of bone loss, but actually reverse the symptoms of osteoporosis.
Certified Osteoporosis Specialty Center
The osteoporosis program at H/S Therapy is the only one of it’s kind in the Montgomery county area. We are a certified “Meeks Method” clinic utilizing the only known exercise program which is shown in medical studies to reduce the likelihood and incidence of compression fracture.
Unlike a machine based weight bearing approach employed at local health clubs we use no machines and “unload” the spine in positions of least compression. Our program is shown to be safe and inexpensive and supported by medical literature. Patients see dramatic results in their standing posture in 30 – 45 minutes. Education is a critical component of all of our osteoporosis programs. Take a look at some of the photos below to see some of the results which have been achieved through physical therapy.
